U.N. Kabuki

Here are a few interesting bits à la UN: Kojo Annan’s Oil-For-Food connections are becoming ever more ‘curiouser and curiouser’. Also, after endless denials, The Sun reports the UN has finally admitted that it had gone against it’s own rules and paid for Benon Sevan’s legal defense. Hello corruption! Now, rumor has it Kofi Annan will make a very damning announcement about Syria early next week (perhaps Monday). In specific, the announcement will detail Syria’s involvement in the Feb. 14th bombing that killed ex-prime minister Rafik al Hariri. This is information the average Lebanese could probably have told you already, but it serves Annan’s credibility building effort very well. So stay tuned for the roll-out and photo op….
